That phrase about this day that the good Lord God has made is a funny one. Or is it the Good Lord? Do we capitalize his Goodness too? I mean His Goodness? If you ask me, that's a lot of Pointed Capitalization. How much Capitalization does He need, anyway? Seems to me a Divine Lord and All That would be so secure in His Divinity and Hoo-Ha that He could just relax and be a good lord. A good enough lord. If he needs all that constantly reinforced superiority, surely there's something less than divine going on there. Maybe he should get therapy.
Okay, I googled "God's therapist," and this is the best thing that came up on the first coupla pages: http://www.theonion.com/articles/god-diagnosed-with-bipolar-disorder,348/ Excerpt: "What He needs from us is understanding and patience," Jurgens said. "To paraphrase the words of the Lord God Himself, 'Humans, forgive Him, for He knows not what He does.'"
Or, as Stephen Crane told us & my lit prof so dug, Nature is indifferent. Flatly indifferent. Yet/and really kinda great in the way it reminds us periodically how it's in charge, we can get as full of Ourselves as we want, sometimes it's just the nature of things that, say, you gotta hunker down a while to take care of yourself in the bitter bitter cold.
